Dozen players honored as first and second team All MASL 2 selections

TAMPA, Florida – With the completion of the eighth season of Major Arena Soccer League 2,  league officials have announced First and Second Team All Star selections in advance of this weekend's playoffs.

Five field players and one goalkeeper were picked by league leaders in consultation with select teams and representatives from the three divisions. Following are the honorees:

ALL MASL 2 FIRST TEAM

>> LUAN SILVA, Iowa Demon Hawks – Silva was the dominant player on the most dominant offense in the league, scoring a league-record 68 total  points on 35 goals and 33 assists. He shined, however, in his team's biggest games, collecting 31 of his points in six combined games against the St. Louis Ambush 2 and Muskegon Risers.  Set a league record with 15 points in one game in a win over Wisconsin late in the year. 

>> RICKY OROZCO, United Elite Krajisnik – There was no more unselfish player in all of MASL 2 this year, proving to be one of the league's top playmakers with his 29 assists, second best in the league behind Silva. He also added eight goals for the East Division winners. His playmaking skills included a two-assist game in a March 30 win over Spice City FC which clinched the East for the affiliate of Utica City FC of the Major Arena Soccer League. Also dressed for five games for Utica City, picking up three assists. 

>> RUBEN TORRES, OKC Certified Lions – The Lions – who will be moving their MASL 2 and MASL 3 teams to the brand new 4,500 seat OG&E Arena in downtown Oklahoma City next season – have a great building block in Torres, who scored 22 goals and had 13 assists for the first-year Lions. He both a six-goal and seven-goal games in 2024-25. 

>> GUSTAVO GOMES, Spice City FC – Spice was a great success story on and off the field this year, making their MASL 2 in 2024-25. The Danbury, Connecticut, team is owned by the same group that entered Newtown Pride in the 2023 TST, winning the $1 million winner-take-all prize. Gomes dressed for only six games, but was a huge presence in their lineup, with 11 goals and six assists, including a four-goal performance in the team's first ever game, a 12-9 win over Salisbury. 

>> JEANDERSON PEREIRA, Iowa Demon Hawks – A longtime standout outdoor soccer professional in his native Brazil, and even for a season with the MLS Portland Timbers, Pereira quickly adapted to the indoor game, recording 41 goals and 23 assists. 

>> GK, ANDREW TAYLOR, United Elite Krajisnik – United Elite allowed the fewest goals in all of MASL 2 this season, and Taylor was a big reason why they gave up just 44 goals in 12 starts. Taylor had 10 wins and a league best 3.19 goals against average.  Six times this year the team allowed just one goal, and they also had a 9-0 shutout Feb. 23 against Baltimore. 

ALL MASL 2 SECOND TEAM

>> ALVARO LUEVANO, Chihuahua Savage – Chihuahua had one of the most balanced offenses in all of MASL 2, with six different players with 19 or more points on the season. But the standout on the offense was Luevano, who had 3 goals and an impressive 21 assists. Has had an eight-point, seven-point and six-point game already in 2024-25 … Appeared in three games with the parent Savage of the MASL, scoring one goals. Played in MASL 2 last year for El Paso, appearing in six games with nine goals and six assists.

>> DEVAN DIGRADO, Minnesota Blizzard – DiGrado set a league record with 13 total points in a win over Wisconsin on eight goals and five assists. For the season, he banged in 24 goals and had 15 assists for 39 points, fifth best overall in MASL 2 this past season.

>> CAM WILL, Muskegon Risers – The Risers had one of their best seasons in years, and Will was a big reason as he and his teammates drew large and loud crowds to Mercy Health Arena in Muskegon. His 22 goals were tied for seventh best in the league, and he also chipped in with seven assists. Had a four-goal game against division winning Iowa early in the season among his many highlights.

>> CAIQUE TRIVELATO, Wichita Wings – He burst on the MASL 2 scene last year, scoring 17 goals and adding six assists. He was even better this season, with 22 goals, tied for seventh best in MASL 2. He also picked up three assists and now has 48 points over 19 regular season games the past two years. He also had five goals and three assists in two playoff games last spring. 

>> MERSHAD AHMADI, United Elite Krajisnik – Did double duty most of the season after signing as a free agent with Utica City FC of the MASL this past offseason. He appeared in 17 games for the parent team, with 13 goals and eight assists. For United Elite, he appeared in nine games and scored 26 goals and  10 assists. He was also Utica City's leading scorer in their MASL quarterfinal playoff loss, picking up a goal and one assist. In his MASL 2 career, which dates back to the 2021-22 season when he debuted with the New Mexico Runners and included one season last year with the Wichita Wings, Ahmadi has appeared in 40 games with 107 goals and added 33 assists. 

>> GK RAINER HAUSS, Iowa Demon Hawks – Hauss, a veteran of the Major Arena Soccer League, was the 2023-24 Goalkeeper of the Year, leading his team to a perfect 15-0 record – he started all 15 games – and a league championship. This year, he posted a 4.19 goals against average and was tops in the league  in saves page at .779.   He backstopped the Florida Tropics to the MASL championship series in 2021-22 and has appeared in 36 regular season games in the MASL for Florida, Orlando and the Cedar Rapids Rampage, with a career goals against average of 5.96.
