Spice ends great year with win, but Utica will advance to this weekend's playoffs

TAMPA,  Florida -- Spice City closed out a great first season in Major Arena Soccer League  2 play Sunday at Danbury Arena in Connecticut as they defeated United Elite Krajisnik, 8-6, but it is the Utica team that will head to the playoffs this coming weekend in Des Moines.

Spice and United Elite Krajisnik met over the final three weekends of the regular season to determine first place in the East, with Utica wrapping up the division crown last weekend with a win at the Adirondack Bank Center.

Sunday, Spice jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, and scored four times in the fourth to pull away for the win. Will Arbokda scored twice for Spice.

United Elite will head to Iowa as the No. 3 seed in the four-team field. They will face the No. 2 seeded and host Iowa Demon Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Buccaneer Arena. The opening semi-final game will feature the Chihuahua Savage (No. 1 seed) against the fourth-seeded Wichita Wings. That game will kick off at 4:30 p.m. All games will be broadcast live and free of charge on the Iowa Champions League Network on YouTube.
