Utica's United Elite rallys to claim final playoff spot, win East Division crown
TAMPA, Florida -- Utica's Unite Elite Krajisnik -- the affiliate of playoff-bound Utica City FC in the Major Arena Soccer League -- wrapped up the MASL 2 East on Sunday with a come-from-behind win over Spice City FC, the team that was chasing them for the top spot.
Down 4-2 in the closing seconds of the first half, Utica's Edmar Vieira -- who had just one goal all season -- hit a laser from outside the yellow line to score with 1.3 seconds to go before intermission, paving the way for United Elite's big second half both offensively and defensively.
With their win, the field for the April 11 and 12 playoffs in Des Moines are set. Along with Utica, the defending champion Iowa Demon Hawks, Chihuahua Savage and Wichita Wings have already also secured their spots.
