Wichita gets a scare, Utica and Danbury on collision course in the East
TAMPA, Florida -- The New Mexico Runners were oh so close to the upset of the season at home Sunday, with new coach Brian Weems at the helm.
New Mexico rallied to lead 8-7 in the final quarter, only to see Wichita rally for the game's final three goals to take their sixth win to highlight Week Nine action in Major Indoor Soccer League 2 action.
In the East, Danbury drew another huge "Soccer Sunday" crowd and defeated Baltimore, setting up a potential key showdown when United Elite and Spice City are scheduled to meet in a home-and-home series for the final two weekends of the regular season. United Elite took two wins over Salisbury this past weekend. They are scheduled to meet a third time as well after a matchup in Danbury the last Sunday in January was cancelled due to a snow emergency in the city.
The Iowa Demon Hawks also continued to roll with another dominating home win.
